Guardian Program
Placing our top breeding dogs with loving adoptive families
Here at Jungle Lake Labrador Lodge our motto is "Good Dogs~For~ Good People".
This time we're switching it up to "Good People~For~Good Dogs".
This time we're switching it up to "Good People~For~Good Dogs".
Our Partnership program gives our top breeding dogs a chance to live with a loving family, and gives people the chance to own one of our sires or dams at a fraction of the cost. We believe that every dog (especially Labradors) need lots and lots of love and attention. We limit ourselves to a select amount of dogs and a select few litters a year so that our dogs live happy lives enjoying their favorite activities. This program is the best of both worlds for the loving family and for the dog.
Occasionally we will select a pup to do future breeding with to continue our select breeding lines. This program will allow an adoptive family to purchase one of our select pups and raise them as their own. While we take cautious measures to place our pups in loving homes, we take this even more seriously. If you are a caring dog lover that meets our criteria this may be a great opportunity to take home an extraordinary dog.
Depending on the litter, whether it be one of our good all around pups, one of our show pups, or a pup from our amazing Pointing Labrador hunting litters, the criteria will slightly differ with expectations.

Guardian Program
As breeders, we strive to create the best lives possible for the dogs in our breeding program. These dogs live in our home as part of our family as Labs should (we have such a social and loving breed). As you might imagine, as just two people, we can only provide the kind of individual attention each dog deserves to so many dogs. This is where the guardian program comes in. Below you will find answers to many common questions related our guardian program. It is really a very simple program even though it may seem like a lot of details. We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the program but ask that you read through the information below before contacting us about our guardian dogs. What is a Guardian Program? Our guardian program places the pick of the litter puppy that we feel will be a great fit for our breeding program with qualifying families at no cost or a significantly reduced cost (depending on the circumstances). That’s right, you get a top quality dog for a steep discount or even no cost. Guardian homes basically act as “foster homes” until the terms of the agreement are satisfied and then full ownership will be transferred to the guardian. You also get to be involved in our breeding program, attend puppy parties to help socialize our puppies and get free boarding, training support and more! We don’t hold back a puppy from every litter, so this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss out on
!How does it work? Guardian dogs will return to us for breeding on an as needed basis. For females we typically do up to 3 litters, males will simply just come to stay with us for breeding as needed, generally a handful of times per year for a few days at a time. Guardian families are responsible for day to day care of their guardian dogs (including standard veterinary care, food etc) and we are responsible for breeding related expenses (health testing, extra food during pregnancy and whelping etc).
Who is guardianship a good fit for? Guardianship can be a great fit for anyone who is interested in being a part of helping us create the best companions possible! Families, couples or single individuals can all make for great guardian homes. Do you love to travel? Guardianship for females is a great option for people who love to travel. You can plan trips for the time when the dog is here with us for breeding and we also offer free boarding for our guardian dogs! Do you want to skip the potty training & waking up in the middle of the night puppy stage? We place our guardian puppies at 4+ months of age, after we have started basic obedience, house manners, potty training, crate training etc. The hardest part is already done but you still get to enjoy the fun part of puppyhood. We do occasion have older puppies or adult dogs available to guardian homes as well. Do you have another dog at home? For some people, it can be difficult to be away from the dog during breeding/whelping. In those situations, we recommend that you have another dog in the home to keep you company.
What are some requirements of the guardian program? Below are just a few requirements for guardian homes. This is not an exhaustive list, but gives you an idea of the things we require.1). Guardian dogs must be indoor dogs & considered a family member. The whole point of placing our dogs in guardian homes is to ensure that they get plenty of love, attention and adventure. They must be involved in your day to day life and live in the comfort of your home.2). Guardian families must have a similar philosophy to us (or willing to learn) in regards to providing more natural care. This will include feeding at least a partially whole food diet (raw, freeze dried etc), minimizing vaccines and using natural alternatives to chemical preventatives. 3). Guardian families must do everything in their power to keep the guardian dog safe at all times.
Perks of Guardianship 1). Free boarding here with us while you travel.2). Unlimited support in relation to health and training for the life of the dog. We have been active in the dog world for about 15 years and have a ton of knowledge we are more than happy to share to help you provide the best for the dog. In some cases this can even include free training.3). Being involved in our breeding program, spending time with baby puppies to help us socialize them. Helping us provide the best companions we can to families.
How Long Will The Dog Need to Stay for Breeding? Males generally return to us for 4-7 days for breeding. They can either stay with us during that time or be dropped off for the day (typically we do up to 3 breedings, one or two days apart).Females generally return to us for 4-7 days for breeding then again for whelping & puppy raising (approx. 6 weeks). This generally happens once or maybe twice per year after maturity, for up to 3 litters. She will be in your care during most of the pregnancy and between breedings.
Is it stressful on the dog to have to go back and forth? Because all of our guardian dogs live here with us first, they love to come to visit us! We have found that because our breed is so adaptable, this type of program works out great. The dogs enjoy coming to visit us just as much as they enjoy returning home. It’s like a vacation where they get to come enjoy playing with our other dogs every day, romping on our property and doing enrichment activities.
Do the female dogs miss their puppies when they return home after having a litter? As humans, we expect that this might be the case because it would be for us, but dogs just don’t work like that. Even the best moms are ready for the pups to go to their forever homes by the time they are 8 weeks. I have yet to see a female be saddened by her puppies going to their new homes. That’s just nature I suppose.
Still have questions? We are more than happy to discuss this option with you further. Send us an email to start the conversation.
We look forward to hearing from you!
